Glide is oral tablets that belongs to blood glucose lowering agents (sulfonylurea class). Glide stimulates the release of insulin from functioning pancreatic beta cells; in addition leads to increased sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin. Glide is indicated to lower blood glucose in patients with noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM). Glide may be used for patients who do not respond to treatment with diet and exercise. Glide is used with metformin in cases that do not respond to each one alone. Glide is also indicated for use in combination with insulin to lower blood glucose in patients whose hyperglycemia cannot be controlled by oral hypoglycemic agent alone.
