Flamid is a colloidal gel that contains acid polymer which maintains the acidic environment around the cuts. Flamid gel is a unique formula that assists in preventing infection, restores hydration and activates healing of wounds. Wound healing occurs in four phases: homeostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodelling. Arginine plays a vital role in wound healing, as its metabolites affect all phases of the wound healing process. There are two arginine metabolism pathways in wound healing; one of them is the production of nitric oxide. The other pathway is forming ornithine, a major constituent of collagen, proline, and polyamines. These two pathways are highly active in the inflammatory phase and in the proliferative phase.
